In 1965, when Morris Davis opened his doors as Davis Realty, few knew what an impact he and his company would have on the community and West-Central Indiana. In his normal unpretentious manner, Davis simply had an approach of caring for one customer at a time.
With his farming experience in hand, serving the real estate needs in a predominately agricultural community was natural; however, Davis had more to offer the community. He was instrumental through his business in attracting many industries to the area. For example: Nucor Corporation, the largest producer of steel in the United States and even more so the largest metals recycler in the Western Hemisphere, decided to locate their thin slab cast flat rolled steel facility in Crawfordsville in large part due to the business-friendly climate and excellent workforce Montgomery County offered. Davis convinced Pace Dairy Foods, a cheese manufacturer for Kroger Company of how well Crawfordsville would serve as a transportation hub for retail distribution.
Davis’ leadership was critical to the infrastructure development of I-74/ US231 interchange allowing Crawfordsville further commerce expansion to the north. In addition to Davis’ commercial and industrial land development, he created several residential developments to accommodate the inherent growth that his commercial and industrial real estate work had inspired.
In July of 2011, Davis sold the company to Greg Morrison, who had been an Associate Broker and close understudy of the business for over 16 years. Upon purchase, Morrison envisioned enlarging the business. “When I started thinking about who I might want to talk to about joining me I really had one name in mind,” Morrison said. “It was going to be her or no one and I would stay by myself.” It was at that time which Lisa Taylor, Associate Broker with RE/MAX Real Estate Associates, decided to join Morrison.
Today, Davis Morrison Realty is a significant leader in all segments of the real estate market. However, the brokerage has the same time-honored approach of customer service, respect and commitment to serving the client’s commercial, farming, and residential real estate needs “one customer at a time”.
